Microsoft, envisioning itself as a service and device company launches a new keyboard. so whats the deal well this keyboard is designed keeping in mind the findings of its healthy computing survey, which revealed that 85% of the respondents experience discomfort on a daily basis cause of their work set up.
Named the sculpt ergonomic desktop, this combo includes a keyboard with a unique split layout. In a blog pot by the windows communications manager at Microsoft Brandon LeBlanc, "When I put my hands on it, it felt like the keyboard naturally "fit" my hands. This split keyboard layout is designed to help position the wrists and forearms in a natural, relaxed position."

The design features a "domed" shape that's been designed to reduce discomfort, allows for reverse-tilt angles to promote straight or neutral wrist positioning. Microsoft claims these adjustment puts the human body in a more comfortable position for comfort.

Now the numeric keypad is separate and can be kept aside in case its not being used. The keyboard has been optimized for windows 8 (and 8.1) with hot keys for quick access, media play back and multitasking.

Microsoft also has a sculpt ergonomic mouse, boasting of a unique ergonomic shape that is suited for a more natural postures. its taller than most mice in the market to reduce the contact between the surface and the underside of user's hands, It also features the windows button for quick access to start screen in windows 8, a back button for navigation, and a four way scroll wheel

The sculpt ergonomic desktop is retailed at $129.95, while the mouse can be purchased for $59.95.

It would be interesting to see how well it does in the market, personally am quite comfortable with my work set up (guess i'm one of those 15%) and in my opinion it will most probably fail, one being its too bulky and as far as claiming it to be a innovation No i think not, the keyboard's just been split in the middle in a 2-3 decades old keyboard. Then again i could be wrong and it could do well. But for the Indian market its a bit expensive.
