After a long widespread rumors and leaks, Nokia officially launches its latest Windows camera phone, the Lumia 1020, at a press event in New York City. The Lumia 1020's 41MP imaging sensor.

This time, Nokia has paired their photo enthusiast smartphone with the Windows Phone 8 OS, Zeiss six-element lens and improved image processing. The camera creates two images simultaneously for each capture. One file is saved at the sensor's full resolution. The second image, suitable for sharing, is a 5MP capture. The benefit here is that you can zoom in and out non-destructively post-capture.This means pictures can be zoomed into and re-framed without any of the image quality being lost.

As with the Lumia 925, an optical image stabilization system is present. it is redesigned with a ball-bearing housing and tiny audible motors that are activated to keep the sensor and lens on the same plane.

Also new is a Nokia-developed app, dubbed Pro Cam. Manual camera controls include ISO, shutter speed, exposure compensation, white balance and manual focus. Nokia also announced a partnership with Hipstamatic in which the camera app maker will launch Oggl Pro alongside the release of the Lumia 1020.
And because no true camera-oriented device would be complete without accessories, there's a snap-on camera grip that provides a shutter release, tripod socket and a sculpted hand grip. A snap-on wireless charging shell, as seen on previous Lumia models will be available as well.

The device is set to work on 2G, 3G and also 4G (LTE) networks. It also has Wi-Fi for a better and faster Internet connectivity. The device also has a Bluetooth v4.0 that allows you to stream multimedia across supporting devices. The phone also has an NFC feature that allows you to connect and share stuff across other devices nearby that are NFC enabled. A-GPS support for impeccable navigational solutions and various bundled apps for ease of use are a few features of this smartphone.

It is the best smartphone camera on the market with five times more megapixels than the iPhone 5 and 2.5 times more than Samsung's 16MP camera on its S4 Zoom.

The 41MP camera of Lumia 1020 records more details than other camera phones and even tops many point-and-shoot cameras, Nokia says. More pixels mean more sensors for capturing the light that forms an image.

Lumia 1020 smartphone features a technology called Dual Capture, which takes two shots at the same time, one at 38MP resolution and the other at 5MP. The former is meant for photo editing, while the latter is ideal for social media uploads, said Nokia. The 41MP Zeiss camera has six lenses and features Nokia's Pure-view imaging technology, along with two types flash - one LED and the other Xenon.

Microsoft also upgraded its Windows Phone OS to enable its photo viewer to accommodate all the image information taken by this pixel monster.

The device has a non-removable battery that gives backup for longer use. The phone has 32 GB of internal storage, which is good enough to store all your data on the phone. The device doesn't have a micro SD card slot.

Nokia Lumia 1020 has created  a new venture by it's unique Smartphone + SmartCamera.

It pins its hope for a comeback in smartphones on Microsoft's Windows Phone - an operating system struggling to compete with Google's popular Android system.
