"STA333IS" Where Size is Inversely Proportional to Performance

Well, it's seems that today everyone is focused on reducing the size of electronic devices. SoundTerminal or STMicroelectronics has developed a new Audio Chip named "STA333IS" which is just 2.57x3.24 mm but produces a whooping 20W of audio output.

The "STA333IS" can be installed in any space-constrained environment such as LCD and LED televisions due to it's smaller size factor. The necessary operating voltage range is 4.5 to 18 V.
The "STA333IS" is also suitable for operation under a battery operated environment.

The audio signal is manipulated digitally, depending mainly on STM's proprietary fully flexible amplification (FFX) for digital audio processing. Two channels of FFX processing are provided, one for each stereo channel.

The chip also boasts the ability to filter the AM radio interference.

"Only 14 small components and a power supply need be added to the 333IS to release that functionality on a digital audio signal – a remarkably small number. While other manufacturers are also moving in this direction, the introduction of the STA333IS provides STM with a tactical advantage in what is a massively dynamic marketplace"says Brian Dodson, from Gizmag.
